7AS and 11AS Update (9-12-08)
Thank you for subscribing to the Oahu League contact list. The Oahu League would like to update you on the progress of the current 2008 Fall Season.
Schedule Changes
The league is entering its second week of games scheduled for 09/14/08. We apologize for the field changes, but hopefully after this coming week the schedule will be finalized for the remainder of the season. After the original schedule was published, the league was notified that the fields at Waipio that were originally assigned to HYSA/OL were changed. Additionally field 12 and 14 are lined smaller than the other 11v11 fields. OL is attempting to find a solution for this without changing game times so that all of our 11v11 fields are similarly sized. The OL has made every effort to keep the game times the same while only changing fields. We are very sorry if this has inconvenienced you or your team.
Additionally several older teams notified the Board after the schedule was posted that many players participating on ILH teams will be unable to make OL scheduled games beyond October 19th. The OL will be rescheduling the games following the 10/19/08 games to earlier in the season (sometimes playing 2 games a day) to acommodate these teams. This rescheduling will occur in the U14 and U15 age divisions only. All other age groups will continue play as scheduled unless the league is notified otherwise.
The league has received several game-conflict requests. We will be working to resolve all of these this weekend. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Game Format
The follow are the OL approved formats for the 2008 Fall Season:
11v11 Format
U15 ~ 11v11; 80 minute match (size 5 ball)
U14 ~ 11v11; 70 minute match (size 5 ball)
U13 ~ 11v11; 70 minute match (size 5 ball)
U12 ~ 11v11; 60 minute match (size 4 ball)
Small-sided Formats
U11 ~ 8v8; 50 minute match (size 4 ball); offside rule in effect
U09 ~ 8v8; 50 minute match (size 4 ball); offside rule in effect
U08 ~ 8v8; 40 minute match (size 3 ball); no offside
Each match is split by a half-time period. Please remember that the Fall Season is considered a developmental season. There are no standings kept or scores "officially" reported or recorded by the league. The purpose of the Fall League is to provide the local Oahu HYSA teams with league matches prior to the start of the competitive Winter (younger) and Spring Seasons (older).
Rosters
All small-sided formats will not allow "written-in" players for the Fall Season. The 11v11 rosters for the Fall Season utilize the "club pass". As long as the player has a current (2008-2009) HYSA member pass, and is of an appropriate age for the division in question, that player may participate in the 11v11 game (limit 18 players per game). Coaches for the 11v11 format must still write the players names on their team game card prior to the game. Coaches still must sign their game card to verify that the roster information is correct prior to the game.
Team Refunds/Entry Fees
If your team was not provided a division by the league (not enough teams, etc), your entry fee is being processed this weekend. The checks should go out next week. If your team switched from 7-aside to 11-aside, you should receive an email this week regarding increased entry payment for the 11-aside format (unless your team had taken an (a) and (b) slots in which case your fee will be partially refunded). If you are in a division that was not scheduled 10 games during the course of the season, your partial refund will be issued this week.
Thank you for your participation in the Oahu League. We appreciate your support and wish you and your team the best of luck. Please continue to check your schedules for field changes in case the League has to make more changes. The OL will make every effort to email schedule changes as far in advance as possible.

Welcome to the 7AS and 11AS Seasons 2008 (9-6-08)
As you know, the Oahu League 7AS and 11AS Seasons for 2008 start this Sunday, September 7th.
Please remember that the 7AS and 11AS Seasons are developmental seasons (although the games get very competitive!) and that players, coaches (new and old), and referees (youth and adult) will all be learning and developing their skills. The Board expects that coaches and spectators will support the developmental aspects of the season and provide the players and youth referees an enjoyable venue for their development!
There may also be last minute field changes at Waipio due to the management of the soccer park so we will all bear with it and make the best of the situation! (remember to check the schedule for the latest field numbers before you leave for your game).
Again, have an enjoyable season and use it to get ready for the U8-12 and U13-19 competitive seasons.
Mahalo,
Phil Neddo, OL President |
